DAT 308 ~ Performance Interfaces

For this project we have been asked to create an interface which facilitates performance. We have a variety of software to help us create an interface which will produce an audio performance, visual performance, or both.

We came up with the idea of creating a wearable musical interface, which we are currently developing.

We are aiming to create this wearable musical interface which will allow the user to use their movement to generate a beat / musical scene.

At the moment our idea is to sew pressure sensors into or onto the shoulders of a blazer.

To generate the music we will be using Mozzi, a library for Arduino. We have tried to get the samples I created working but it appears that it will not be possible due to the memory of the Arduino - the musical tones will have to be produced on the fly.

Part of the inspiration for this piece was derived from the theatrical performance 'Stomp'.
